Social MediaIn a groundbreaking move towards wildlife conservation, Reliance Foundation’s Vantara initiative has unveiled a state-of-the-art Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre spanning 650 acres. This sanctuary, situated within the lush confines of Reliance’s Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat, aims to provide sanctuary and care for animals from distressing and perilous situations both in India and worldwide.

Under the visionary leadership of Anant Ambani, Director of Reliance Industries and Reliance Foundation, Vantara emerges as a beacon of hope for countless animals facing threats from various sources, including habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and abuse.

The Vantara programme is a holistic endeavour encompassing rescue, treatment, and rehabilitation, with a mission to safeguard the well-being of injured, abused, and endangered animals. Boasting a staff of over 2,100 dedicated professionals, the centre has already made significant strides in its mission, rescuing and providing sanctuary to over 2,000 animals representing 43 different species.

One of the centre’s notable achievements is the rescue of 200 leopards from across India, many of which have fallen victim to road accidents or conflicts with humans. Additionally, over 1,000 crocodiles were rescued from dire conditions in Tamil Nadu, underscoring Vantara’s commitment to alleviating animal suffering.

Moreover, Vantara’s impact extends beyond Indian borders, with efforts to save animals from perilous situations globally. Animals from hunting lodges in Africa, facilities facing euthanasia in Slovakia, and distressing environments in Mexico have found refuge and care at the centre.

Central to Vantara’s operations is its cutting-edge hospital and medical research centre, spanning an impressive 1 lakh sqft. Equipped with the latest technology, including MRI, CT scan, and advanced surgical facilities, the centre ensures top-notch medical care for its residents.

In a bid to tackle the pressing issue of species conservation, Vantara has launched conservation breeding programmes for seven endangered species. These initiatives aim to establish viable populations that can be reintroduced into their native habitats, thereby bolstering efforts to prevent extinction.
