Situated 43 kilometers from Somnath, the sizable population of lions makes Gir one of the most popular sanctuaries in the country. Apart from roaring lions, Gir also boost of ratel, rusty spotted cat, pangolin, ruddy mongoose, civets, paradise flycatchers and 300 species of birds. December and Mid June are the best time to visit Gir National Park.
